Oedipus Rex

Oedipus: Oedipus is the protagonist of Oedipus Rex. Oedipus becomes king of Thebes. He was brought up by Corinthian king and queen, Polybus and Merope.

Jocasta: She was the wife of Laius. She is also Oedipus's wife and mother and Creon's sister.

Laius: Laius is the husband of Jocasta and father of Oedipus. He was the king of Thebes.

Creon: Creon is the brother of Jocasta and Oedipus's brother-in-law.

Polybus: The king of Corinth.

Merope: The queen of Corinth.

The Chorus: The elders of Thebes.

Teiresias: Teiresias is the blind prophet of Thebes.

Messenger from Corinth: The messenger from Corinth arrives to tell Oedipus that his father, Polybus is dead.

The Therban Shepherd: He was entrusted with the task of exposing the child of Laius and Jocasta on Mount Cithaeron.
